Elite Keypad & Intercom Repair: The Inglewood Owner’s Guide

Elite keypad and intercom repair in Inglewood typically runs $185-$410 installed, with most jobs completed same-day when we have the part on the truck. We stock Elite-compatible keypads, intercom boards, and wiring harnesses for the most common SL-3000 and Mirco series systems, and we’ll match the failed part to your exact model before quoting a written price. Most Inglewood homeowners discover the failure the same way: the keypad still lights up but the gate won’t open, or the intercom crackles and cuts out mid-call with a delivery driver at the curb.

We’re an independent repair company, not affiliated with Elite. That means we fix the Elite part that failed rather than steering you toward a full system replacement. And under The Haven Standard, you get a written price before any work begins and a photo log of what was found, what was replaced, and what was left behind.

Which Elite Models This Applies To

Elite keypads and intercoms appear across three main lines we see in Inglewood: the SL-3000 slide gate operator, the Mirco series (Mirco 2000 and newer revisions), and legacy CSW200 swing gate systems. The keypad and intercom are not interchangeable across all three. The SL-3000 uses a 3-wire keypad connection that runs on 24V DC; the Mirco series pulls a 12V signal, and wiring an SL-3000 keypad onto a Mirco board will fry the keypad’s backlight within weeks. We verify the voltage and connector type before anything gets ordered or installed.

For OEM versus aftermarket: Elite’s original keypads are durable but not weatherproof at the edges. The aftermarket units we stock use a sealed membrane face that holds up better to Inglewood’s coastal haze and morning damp, and they’re typically $30-$60 less than OEM for equivalent function. We’ll show you both options with prices in writing, and we stock the aftermarket sealed-face keypads on the truck because they fail less often in this climate.

Signs Your Elite Keypad & Intercom Repair Is Failing

Signs Your Elite Keypad & Intercom Repair Is Failing
  • Keypad lights up but the gate doesn’t move. This usually means the keypad’s relay is sending the signal but the receiver board on the operator isn’t processing it. The keypad itself may be fine; the problem can sit in the wiring or the operator’s input terminal. We test the line with a multimeter before replacing anything.
  • Intermittent entry, worse in the morning or after rain. Moisture intrusion at the keypad’s mounting gasket is the usual culprit. Inglewood’s marine layer keeps surfaces damp longer than inland areas, and a hairline crack in the gasket lets enough moisture in to corrode the contact pads.
  • Intercom produces a loud buzz or no voice at all. A failed electrolytic capacitor on the intercom board is the most common cause. These degrade with heat and age, and we replace the capacitor when possible rather than the whole board.
  • Keypad beeps but won’t accept the code, or accepts it only sometimes. The silicone membrane under the face has cracked, and carbon traces on the PCB are making intermittent contact. A new membrane face restores function in most cases.
  • Intercom works from the house but not at the gate pedestal. This points to a broken wire in the conduit run or a failed microphone at the pedestal. We trace the run with a tone generator and replace the failed section rather than pulling new conduit unless it’s necessary.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Installed Elite keypad replacement in Inglewood runs $185-$310 depending on whether we’re swapping to an aftermarket sealed unit or an OEM Elite keypad. Intercom board repair runs $220-$410, and that includes the board, any capacitors or relays replaced, and full reassembly of the housing. The price is written and handed to you before we touch a tool, so there’s no discovery invoice at the end.

What’s included with every keypad or intercom repair:

  • Written price before work starts (Haven Standard Clause 1)
  • Photo log of the failed part, the replacement part, and the wiring verification
  • Voltage and continuity check on the existing wiring
  • Re-seal of the mounting gasket with outdoor-rated sealant
  • 365-Day Done Right Promise on the completed repair

You can safely check a few things before calling. Confirm the keypad has power, try a fresh code if you’ve recently reprogrammed, and look for visible cracks in the face or a loose mounting plate. Beyond that, the work involves low-voltage wiring, but it’s still wiring, and a shorted keypad line can damage the operator’s control board, which turns a $200 keypad job into a $900 board replacement. The most expensive calls we run in Inglewood are the ones where a homeowner tried to splice keypad wires and crossed the 24V line into the receiver terminal.

If the keypad or intercom is showing any of the symptoms above, call us at (424) 380-7998. We’ll diagnose it, give you a written price, and most keypad swaps are done the same day.
